Reaching Sulligent - Touching the World |
|
Wow, another year in history has gone by us! This past year has been a year of ups and downs spiritually for all of us. In the words of the Apostle Paul in Philippians 3:13-14, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”.
I confess I have been caught up myself in events and circumstances but encourage you, as God has encouraged me, to keep pressing on. 2010 is a year the Lord has given us to refocus and reunite each other as the body of Christ. Jesus has already prayed this in John 17:11, “And now I am no more in the world, but these (his disciples present and to come) are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are one”.
We are in this world but do not have to be like it. This very well could be the day, month, or year that Jesus comes back to call His bride home. Will we be ready? If Jesus decides to tarry, how do we continue to bring honor to the name of Jesus? I believe Jesus wants us to continue to be united as one. When one hurts, we all hurt. When one rejoices, we all rejoice.
Paul echoes these same words in Ephesians 4:1-6. Each of us need to fulfill the calling God has called us to. Achieving the Great Commission with humility, meekness, and power. The key to success will be the unity of the body working together. God is above all, through all, and in us all! To God be the glory! I hope this year will be a year of looking ahead to our God who will do above and beyond all we could ever dream. I ask that each person ask this question this year– “How do I bring unity to Sulligent First Baptist Church this year”? May God bless you as you search out the answer to this question. Happy New Year!!
In Christ, Bro. Jeremy |
